Of the most significance is that there is no meaningful public input on the Advisory Council. Advisory councils were established as a mechanism to facilitate communication between the community and the Chicago Park District. Yet Grant Park Advisory Council meetings are devoted solely to presentations by Mr. O’Neill of the projects he has decided to do. A few questions are permitted at the end of the presentations, but there is no discussion at all, and critical comments are not tolerated. Nor does the Grant Park Advisory Council have any of the neighborhood committees typically found at other large park advisory councils.  This apparently has been the case for at least a decade.
